The more I consider this, the stranger it seems to discuss.
[ Despite the fact that she had been the one to suggest it in the first place and that Lup was the easiest person for her to talk to around, some topics would just never be easy to have be ... out loud. But she'll start to head over to her room.
Kova yawns from where he is under a chair, before idly flicking a paw at a toy. ]
[Lup had been futzing around in her room while Taako's out doing stuff in the kitchen, taking advantage of the open space to gather some spell components when Honerva arrives. She pauses mid-flip of her spellbook, expression shifting from focused to thoughtful, and quietly sets it aside.]
In my experience, it's better not to think about it and just come out and say it.
[She knows that's not as easy for Honerva to do, though, so after a moment she stands up and lifts something from a basket on her desk: several long sticks of unburned incense.]
I've got a thing to do, and it's gonna take a long-ass time. Want to keep me company? I hear this shit's good for soothing the soul.
[If she recognizes what the incense is, she might realize the intent. Sufficient incense is the last ingredient she was missing for Find Familiar.]
Hello, I hope you have been well since last we spoke.
I was wondering if you would be willing to offer constructive criticism, or perhaps help me settle upon a more concrete idea with regards to a non-platonic gift for my significant other.
[He'd only just recently realized the upcoming holiday and then had to wrap his head around the fact that not only did he have people to spend it with but... more people than he could feasibly devote time to in a single day.
So he had made a point to track Lup down the evening before the holiday, gently probing after training that morning to ensure she didn't have plans. Which finds him at her door in the evening, a rose in hand and... well no particular set plans but Lup was definitely more for spontaneity than anything. They might just have dinner and curl up on the couch together, they might end up on some sort of adventure, it's impossible to say.]
Your Grace~ [A hint of playfulness and a small smile when she answers the door. He doesn't use the title often anymore but once in awhile it's still fun to pamper her a little.]
[The twins thrive on being aesthetically presentable 99% of the time, but his "subtle" hints weren't lost on her, so when she opens the door said aesthetics are simple but strong; an easy-to-move-in skirt and overcoat of gradient colours- blueish purple, to match her highlights of the day- with a braid curved along her head like a crown, a personal touch for him and the nickname, the rest of her hair flowing free at her back.
She at least pretends to look surprised as she smiles at him and accepts the rose, giving it a little sniff. A fake rose can still smell sweet, it turns out.]
Marshall. I didn't expect you. [She smiles with her teeth, a transparent lie.] What's made you grace my doorstep this evening?
not really an etiquette, it varies person to person. the major rules of a regular relationship carry forward, but now you have to balance them between an extra person as well:
-open communication -respect boundaries -honesty
when there's more people to love there's also more people to hurt, so it's important to have everybody on the same page.
[ The skeletal creatures yet remain a mystery to her. With no living tissue to analyze, she might only have Mythra peer into the structural integrity of the bones and hollowed-out marrow itself of the bones, which reveals— surprise— that it is bone.
But what had these creatures been to begin with? How are they able to move about— by the ooze they had kept within them? Or some energy about them? Are they truly deceased, or are the bones merely part of a skeleton within a body that remains invisible to her detection?
Lup will hear her bell ringing, and if she should make her way to the door, Pyra will greet her with a smile. With one hand outstretched in an offering of touch and a container that carries the skull and poinsettia in another, it seems she’s here on business. ] Lup...!
I, ah, ....I was wondering if you might assist me.
[There is a moment of hesitation before Lup takes her hand, mostly because her brows furrow at the sight of the skull-flower and she needs a few seconds to stare at it.]
[There was only so much experience Lup would be able to get with sparring. They'd been doing this for a long time. She was good. But without an actual battle to hone her skills there really wasn't much more they could do, merely repeating the same motions day after day until her body moved before her mind had time to decide what she was going to do.
Blending the actual swordplay with her spellwork was still something they were working on but again, there was only so much they could do. Cor could withstand a lot, especially with potions on hand and his Majesty's magic bolstering him. But he was still human.
And that was a hell of an explosion. The Protect he'd thrown up to take the brunt of it had shattered relatively quickly. He had to pat out a bit of his shoulder where his tee shirt was now thoroughly singed. But she was still far too pleased with herself, even if it was playful bragging rights. Her magic was incredibly powerful, yes, but Cor fully expected her to be able to juggle spells and swords in tandem.
So while he still had his head turned, attention on his shoulder, while she might have her guard down from the victory of breaking his spell, he gathers thunder to his fingers. A flash of lightning arcing between them, aiming slightly off center, pushing her to move away from it be that back or sidestepping. And with a flickering warp she will find her dodge only putting her momentum into throwing her over his shoulder.
Breathless at worst but with Cor's arm wrapped tight around her waist to keep her trapped where she was.]
You're just having so much fun now that you know how those elixirs work.
[He's half laughing, breathless and sweaty, definitely winding down after pushing so hard for a good few hours this morning already.]
[Gods, but she's needed this. She's felt too wound up for too long now, layers of tension buried deep beneath the skin where no one can notice it unless they know what to look for. Some people know. Most don't, and she's happy to keep it that way.
And this- this is where she thrives, with fire and blood pounding in her veins, warming her cold body until everything burns and she feels truly alive. Taako doesn't like fighting, and she's always understood that (he likes living, and they both know death too intimately to not fear it) but over the years she's grown to appreciate how it makes her feel. Strong, dangerous, breathtaking. She lives to be a weapon of sharp edges and flame. And she loves that Cor can take what she dishes out and then some.
She doesn't even mind that he "wins" the fight; she could keep going, technically, still some slots to spare thanks to the aforementioned elixirs (and his ass is right there), but instead she's laughing openly, legs wriggling just for show.]
You knew what you were getting into when you offered them, no takebacks!
[ It had been days. A few days, but Honerva had given up on keeping track. She had wanted to stay awake for as long as she possibly could, and she'd tried, with Lup's help, wanting to remain as present for her as possible, but... the fact was she was still unwell. She was still exhausted, and everything about this poison was insidious despite not being deadly, even with the medication that helped lessen the strain of it.
When she eventually fell asleep she slept, a little too deeply but not comfortably, mired in the tangle of nightmare and memory, not waking on her own, unless she was woken up for an attempt at a meal or another potion to down. Her mood and mindset would be disoriented, not suited for conversation, but desperate to stay awake until the tiredness claims her once more.
Late on the third day of it all her fever breaks, the pain lessens. She will still be slow to wake the next morning, but her response to being roused will be quicker. ]
[They've fallen into something of a routine by now, with Lup sticking close or at least making sure Honerva has company and a distraction while she's otherwise occupied, as time and life does not stop when illness strikes. Her initial panic has eased somewhat with each day passing where Honerva still lives, though it never truly goes away. She's keeping a careful eye on the mark where the vine poisoned her, watching for signs of improvement, unsatisfied by what she finds, though at least it doesn't seem to be getting worse.
This particular day Lup ventures in to sit at her bedside, scritching at Kova's fur as a greeting where he lays in his usual spot, before giving Honerva's shoulder a light shake.]
Hey, I hate to wake you but it's halfway to noon. Gotta get some food in you.
My honour attendant has already been chosen out of sentimentality.
However, I now find myself keenly aware of how utterly useless he would be in helping me get ready that day, and how desperately I will need help.
Would you be willing to offer your aid? The date is still undecided as of yet, but if I am to look beautiful for Ardbert your expertise will be invaluable.
My apologies for being 'MIA' for so long. Comas are a bit shite that way. I hope you've been well, and trust you've been slowly beating a sense of self-worth into Ardyn's thick skull since last we spoke.
Ardbert and I were legally married on 9/9, but we intend to be wed on 12/12. Does that date work for you?
On an unrelated note, I've acquired a magical trinket you may be interested in taking a look at. I believe Honerva may like to take a look as well. Do you think we could have a girls night? Or perhaps whatever the afternoon equivalent is called. A girls afternoon?
Aw shit, coma monster got you too, huh? Hope you're doing ok. never had to deal with it myself but I've seen enough to know they're a pain in the ass.
12/12 works for me in theory, assuming any of us are still around at the time, lol. I've learned not to guarantee anything in places like this! Don't think it'll interfere with Candlenights, but I'll check in with Taako just in case.
Hell yeah I'm down for nerd brunch, or nerd supper, or nerd whatever. Want to use the mansion again? If we're gonna get down with some wacky magic it may as well be somewhere comfortable. Honerva and I have been working on a basement lab but it's not exactly 100% working condition yet.
[ He'd been meaning to bring in his recipe book into the cafe, but things happened with Noctis and Prompto. As soon as the pair were better, he's making his way inside the cafe. Forever faithful since his arrival, Rio is there and Ignis doesn't hesitate to pick up the cat, more than used to the greeting. ]
My manor's available any time if I've got the spell slot for it. You need anything specific? I can't offer much challenge beyond the open space, so if you want a real opponent to trash the arena might be better.
Or someone's vegetable garden apparently this month...
[ During a day where Honerva had time to assist at one of the research towers, but mostly because Lotor had wanted to work together - Lup would have known this, but she likely would not have expected to receive this message hardly a few hours into the venture. ]
We need help. Lotor's ill. Nearest research tower. Please.
[ Hopefully that's not too alarming, but it's not the first panic text she'd ever sent. ]
[It hasn't been a great few weeks for Cloud. He's tried to keep himself busy but with more people disappearing and now Tony as well. The guy could be a dumbass at times but well.....even so, Cloud might never see him again.
And what might have happened to him makes him further wonder what happened to Tifa. And Zack. And others. He's tried to focus his mind on other things, but....
Lup will find him at Affurgato today, looking grumpier than usual. He doesn't go as often as he used to, being able to cook more meals. He seems to be staring at his quiche, having only had a few bites out of it and prodding it with a fork absent-mindedly, as if he's lost in his own world.]
[It's a quiet night at the cafe, likely due to the blackout and limited cat interaction, so because of this Lup has already sent her staff home to relax (or maybe go light themselves up with their boyfriend, hint hint) while she runs the place. Ditto's fully capable of seating anyone new who comes along, after all. It also means she's out front in the temporary patio to keep watch for newcomers... which means she's been around to notice Cloud looking like someone spat in his eggs pretty much the entire time he's been here.
They're close enough to closing that she can be a little more shameless than usual, so finally she heads over and slides into the seat across from him.]
Hey, bud, it's last call. You look like you could use a drink for the road. You good?
Party for the Hythlodaeuses on the twelfth at my residence. It will be a buffet, as Hythlodaeus has not experienced a wide variety of foods. If you have any recommendations please let me know by the tenth.
You are welcome to bring whoever you like so long as they are willing to indulge Hythlo's antics. He will be turning two years old and needs spoiling.
[ Shortly after the usual monthly touchsalary hits accounts, an extra bit of Dora to the tune of a few hundred bucks pops up in Lup's. There is no sender indicated, and no explanation. ]

Have you tried twerking in skimpy lingerie?

19th September I guess? Eventual NSFW probably.

They're close enough to closing that she can be a little more shameless than usual, so finally she heads over and slides into the seat across from him.]

My first batch of wine for the season survived the wormpocalypse. I have a bottle with your name on it, if you're interested.

I'll bring some sweets, one can never have too many of those.
